The beaches between Hyeres and Le Lavandou
Our favourites are Estagnol and Pellegrin, both white sandy beaches with crystal clear waters shaded by pine trees. The beaches in this area, like much of the coast of the Var, are easily accessed by car as well as on foot. The coastal path or ancient path of the customs officers provide scenic routes, just a step away from the sea surrounded by rich Mediterranean scrub that smells of eucalyptus, juniper and wild rosemary.
In the same area (close to Cabasson) you will find Fort Bregancon, the official summer residence of the President of the French Republic, situated on a small peninsula in one of the most beautiful bays of the Côte d’Azur. This white sand beach is accessible to all, and features two small restaurants with a large parking area.
If you love water sports, head to the beach of Saint-Clair often frequented by windsurfers, or to the Fossette, a meeting point for lovers of canoeing and kayaking. There is also the club nautique at Cavaliere www.ecolevoilelavandou.com or the nudist beach at Layet.
Alternatively, end the day with a visit to the medieval village of Bormes les Mimosas, listed among the most beautiful sites in France and known for being the starting point of the Route du Mimosa, ranging from Bormes to Grasse.
