The Abbey of Thoronet
A masterpiece of Romanesque Provencal style, like Silvacane and Sénanque, the Abbey is one of the three Cistercian wonders of Provence. You can visit every day of the week including Sunday, where you can attend a Service with Gregorian chanting. Each year there are the International Medieval Music Festival and classical music Concerts. On the way back, stop at Sillans-la-Cascade with its XVIII century Chateau, and walk to the waterfalls formed by the river Bresque.
Cascading more than 40 m, the falls form a spectacular pond of clear turquoise water surrounded by rocks and lush vegetation. To end your tour you must not miss Cotignac, built at the foot of a large rock face with giant stalactites, fissures and caverns that one thousand years ago were occupied by hermits. Today it is a bustling village with houses from the 16th and 17th centuries, with clear water fountains, typical french bar-restaurants, art shops and one of the most lively markets of Provence
